Half the Equation

by Randy Wadley 4. September 2009 06:05

People come up to me all the time asking the same old question, "How can I lose those last few pounds." They workout three plus times a week, cardio and weights but they just can't seem to drop the weight.  My response is always, "What are you eating?"  Some will tell me they are completely starving themselves while others will say whatever they want.

The trick is to eat frequently, 5 or more times per day, and smaller size portions. When the body gets food, it causes chemical reactions which distribute the nutrients to various locations based on the food type (Fat, Carb, Protein).  The distribution process causes blood sugar levels to increase. If you keep the meals up and smaller, the blood sugar levels will be more constant, and the fuel(food) will be used instead of stored.

To improve your overall health and fitness, you need a good diet AND exercise plan.
